Sonja Lorenz is participating with her project “Multidimensional innovation approaches for tapping into allosteric mechanisms in HECT ubiquitin ligases,” which is being carried out in collaboration with Gali Prag, Tel Aviv University, Israel.

Members of the SFB1565 attend the meeting “Wege zum nachhaltigen Labor”
The Green Office of the University of Göttingen hosted a 2-day meeting to discuss strategies for more sustainability in universities and research institutions. Experts and aficionados shared experiences and lessons-learned in applying resource-efficient practices across different fields of science.

ERC Synergy Grant for Marina Rodnina’s CHAPEROME project
Marina Rodnina, member of our SFB, has received funding of almost €10 million through a Synergy Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for her CHAPEROME project in collaboration with Judith Frydman (Stanford, USA) and Johannes Buchner (TUM, Munich). The team will investigate how chaperones control protein synthesis on the ribosome and help cells to adapt to stress such as changing physiological conditions. Congratulations!

International Research Talents for the University Medical Center Göttingen
Argyris Papantonis, a member of our SFB, has been appointed as a scout. This enables him to nominate up to three young scientists from abroad for a Humboldt Research Fellowship in order to recruit them for his research at UMG.

Ubiquitin ligase can do even more
In an interdisciplinary approach, members of SFB1565, led by Sonja Lorenz, have discovered that human ubiquitin ligase can label not only cellular proteins with ubiquitin, but also externally added drug-like molecules. These findings could open up new strategies in drug research and biotechnology.

Jennifer was awarded the prize for the best doctoral thesis by the GZMB for her doctoral thesis as part of Matthias Dobbelstein’s SFB subproject P08 – Regulation of the MDM4 oncogene by the ribosomal protein L22 through alternative mRNA splicing – Congratulations!
