1st Symposion on Interconnections and Cross-Regulation of Gene Expression Processes in Göttingen.

The first symposium of the SFB1565, titled “Interconnections and Cross-Regulation of Gene Expression Processes”, was held from September 17 to 19, 2025, at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen. The conference brought together researchers from the participating institutions in Berlin, Göttingen, Würzburg, and from researchers across Europe and US to discuss recent advances in understanding the connections between transcription, RNA processing, translation, and cellular organization. The event featured insightful talks and lively discussions, fostering collaboration and exchange on key topics in gene expression regulation. The symposium also provided a platform for early-career researchers to present their work during a poster session that drew significant interest and attendance and sparked inspiring discussions. Thank you to all speakers, participants and organizer for making the 1st SFB1565 Symposium a success.

Ubiquitin ligase can do even more

In an interdisciplinary approach, members of SFB1565, led by Sonja Lorenz, have discovered that human ubiquitin ligase can label not only cellular proteins with ubiquitin, but also externally added drug-like molecules. These findings could open up new strategies in drug research and biotechnology.
