Project P13
Mechanisms and interconnections of transcription and ribosome biogenesis in mitochondria
About
Mitochondria contain an organellar genome which is expressed by dedicated molecular machineries, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this project, we will combine genetic and biochemical approaches with cryo-electron microscopy to dissect the very early steps of ribosomal RNA maturation and how they are linked to transcription in human mitochondria. This will reveal mechanistic insights into ribosome biogenesis and provide insights into how different steps of mitochondrial gene expression are coupled.
