Project P14

Interconnections of the mitochondrial translation machinery

About

The mechanisms that modulate expression of the mitochondrial genome are poorly understood. The spatial organization of mitochondrial ribosomes at the inner membrane together with OXPHOS assembly intermediates, nucleoids, and RNA-granules suggests a tight interconnection of these processes. Here, we will investigate an unexpected role for the mitochondrial ribosomal L12-stalk that interacts with the mitochondrial RNA polymerase POLRMT and RNA-binding proteins to define interconnections of the L12-module in mitochondrial translation.
